II/ Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe the busy area of the city with commerce, service and entertainment. III/ Language content: 1/ Vocabulary: Next to, restaurant, bookstore, temple, neighborhood, hospital, factory, museum, stadium, work. 2/ Structure: There is a restaurant on the street. Minh lives in the city. IV/. Teaching aids: Cassette, tape and projector and colored chalks. V/. Techniques: Match up, comprehension questions, pair work and group work. VI/. Procedure: Stages Teacher’s and students’ activities Content S STS Warm up Presentation Practice Production Homework Ask sts to match the Vietnamese translation in column A with the English words in column B. Get feedback and correct using projector. Use some sts’ answers to lead in the new lesson. Read some new words aloud after the teacher. ( chorally/ individually) Call sts to work in pairs and guess which sentence is true and which one is false. Get feedback. Ask sts to listen to the tape carefully and check their prediction. Have them read the passage in silence and complete the sentences ( group work). Get feedback and correct. Peer correction. Call them to listen to the tape again with the open books and check their pronunciaton and intonation. Ask sts to work in groups and guess which words are in the table. Call them to listen to the tape twice ( the first time they can choose the words having been heard, the second they can double check.) Have them rewrite the exercises in their notebooks. Learn new word by heart. Prepare some new words in C1 & C2 for the next period. Read the passage after the teacher. Ask them to read the passage aloud. Correct the sts’ mistakes if there are any. Let sts practice in small groups, use question word “where”. Be sure to ask them to use correct prepositions in the answers. Some pairs perform in front of the class. Peer correction. Let them use a picture in which there are many stores and offices, describe the position of these places then ask them to tell what they are. Divide the whole class into two teams and describe. Call them to rewrite all the questions into their notebooks. Learn new words by heart. Review Unit 4.5& 6 for the next revision. Prepare two sheets of transparent film to review.
