Date: 07-09 -> 12-09-2020 Lesson Plan: 7 Week: 01 Teacher: Võ Kim Trí Classes: 7/1, 7/2, 7/4, 7/5 LESSON PLAN Unit 1 –BACK TO SCHOOL Period 1 (A1+A2) Objectives: Greeting people, introducing oneself and others (review) Developing speaking and reading skills Language contents: Grammar: structures used in greetings, comparatives, a lot of (review), still/ many (new) Vocabulary: words relating to greetings and introduction Techniques Role play Questions-answers Repetition drill Silent reading Teaching aids Pictures, cassette recorder and tape, colored chalk Time: 45 minutes Procedures –skill development sections Steps Techniques and content A1- skill development (speaking) Warm-up Questions and answers Do you have new friends this school year? What do you say to your friends when you first meet after the summer holiday? Are you happy to be back to school again? Presentation Pointing to the picture, setting up the scene: They are Ba, and two girls, Nga and Hoa. Hoa is a new classmate. Now listen to their dialog. Practice -controlled -further Students listen to the tape Students listen to the tape again and repeat the dialog after the tape (repetition) Working in groups of three to play the roles of Ba, Nga, and Hoa Changing the roles. Some groups perform before class A1 -b Presentation Pointing to the picture, setting up the scene: Hoa is a new student. Hoa wants to be Nam’s friend. Now listen to the dialog between Hoa and Nam. Practice Controlled -Further Playing the tape. Students listen Students listen to the tape again and repeat the dialog after the tape (repetition) (class split in half to play two roles) Working in pairs to play the roles of Hoa and Nam Changing the roles. Some pairs perform before class. Checking comprehension ( questions a-c) Working in pairs to ask and answer the questions Some students ask and answer before class Teacher’s correction: a. Her name is Hoa b. She is in class 7 A. c. Nam is also in class 7 A. Students copy down the correct answers in their notebooks. Pair work (making similar dialog to those in A 1,using students’ real names) Some pairs perform before class A 2 skill development (reading) Pre-reading Pointing to the picture, setting up the scene: This is Hoa and this is her new school Hong Ha in Hanoi. Task 1: Questions and answers Now we read a text about Hoa, a new student in class 7 A. Before reading, I have 2 questions for you : a. Where do Hoa’s father and mother live? b. Where do Hoa’s uncle and aunt live? Now read the text silently (silent reading) in 2’ and try to find out the answers to the questions (using multiple choice) 1. in Hue 2. In Hanoi 3. In HCM city While-reading Students choose the correct answers while reading silently Correcting task 1: a. In Hue b. In Hanoi Teacher uses the answers to teach new words: *father and mother = parents (n) *still (adv): vẫn còn *many( adj):(often in negative) a lot of *different(adj) (using 2 real objects ) : not the same *unhappy (adj) :not happy *miss(v): nhớ Students read questions a-e while teacher is writing the notes on board: Hoa from? staying with? a lot of friends? old school-new school? happy/ unhappy? Why? Task 2: Now read the text silently (silent reading ) again and try to find out the answers to the questions a- e in pairs Students compare their answers in pairs Post-reading Teacher gives correct answers: a. Hoa is from Hue. b. She is staying with her uncle and aunt. c. No, she doesn’t. d. Her new school is bigger than her old school. e. Hoa is unhappy because she misses her parents and her friends. Students copy down the correct answers in their notebooks. Homework *Practice greeting and introducing others *Find expressions of greetings people of different ages and write them in your notebooks. Previous lesson: (5’) 2 students greet each other at different time and places B. New lesson: (40’) Sections Steps Techniques and content B 1 skill development (speaking) warm-up Questions and answers 1. Who are they in the picture? 2. Where are they? 3. What are they doing? 4. What is the teacher doing? 5. What are the students doing? 6. What are they talking about? presentation Pointing to the picture, setting up the scene: They are Miss Lien and Hoa .Hoa is a new classmate. So Miss Lien asks Hoa about her name and address. Now listen to the dialog between Miss Lien and Hoa Practice -Controlled -Further Students listen to the tape Students listen to the tape again and repeat the dialog after the tape (repetition) Working in pairs to play the roles of Miss Lien and Hoa, then changing the roles. Some pairs perform before class Checking comprehension ( questions a-d) Working in pairs to ask and answer the questions Some students ask and answer before class Teacher’s correction: a. Hoa is talking to Miss Lien. b. Hoa’s family name is Pham. c. Her middle name is Thi. d. She lives at 12 Tran Hung Dao Street. Students copy down the correct answers in their notebooks. Pair work (making similar dialog to B1,using students’ real names) Some pairs perform before class B 2 skill development (writing) Pre-writing Review WH-questions : Who, What, Where, How Pointing to the picture, setting up the scene: They are Nga and Lan. They are talking about a new student, Hoa, in class 7 A. Now read the dialog between Nga and Lan. While-writing Students read the dialog between Nga and Lan again and fill in the missing question words Students compare their answers in pairs Some pairs perform the dialog before class Post -writing Teacher gives correct answers: Who, Who, What, Where, Where , How Students copy down the correct answers in their notebooks.
